The Bergh Family Records

Eastbourne

December, 23rd /43

My dear Aunt,

Your Goose-Pie arrived at Eastbourne on Friday the 15th instant and, though fully appreciating and feeling grateful for the kind intentions with which it was sent, you must excuse me begging that you will allow it to be the last we receive from the North, we have never yet had one that was eatable, and are obliged to give them away to any of the poor, but the last I fear is not in a state for the poorest creature to be able to make a meal off it, being literally covered with blue mould.

We are all well, I am hourly expecting the arrival of my little Starnger, Fred has sent the Cheese.

With love to all, believe me.

Your affectionate Niece
Jane Bergh.
