Eastbourne

December 5th /43

My dear Aunt,

You appear to have strangely misunderstood the purport of the letter in which I informed you I expected an addition to my family.

In yours of the 11th June you say, "I hope you have not followed the Queens example for I think she is in rather too great haste", my answer was "my little gile will be Baby for some months longer, but I must not say a word about the Queen", I was aware that I Was in the family way, but that was all, in fact, I am a very bad reckoner, and am quite satisfied with myself if I am able to name the month. I expect sometime between the 1st and 30th January, but should not be much surprised if it should be the end of this month. Though I am having my family so fast, I have as little reason to complain as most women, for during my pregnancy I am only slightly troubled with Heartburn, which a little Magnesia instantly relieves, in all other respects I am perfectly well. With both my other children I was only four hours in bed before they were born, and out of bed again on the fifth day, I only hope I may be as fortunate with the next. Of course you will receive a Bulletin from Fred as soon as it is all right.

I understand Tynemouth has been excessively gay this summer, but suppose the Winter is as dull as ever.

We are all quite well, and hope you are the same, with love to all.

believe me

Your affectionate Niece
Jane Bergh.
