George Hicksons in Lincolnshire

Cheshire

• George Hickson, born ca 1739 in Knutsford North, had a brother called William born two years earlier. Their parents are unknown, but their grandparents were Peter Hickson and Rebecca Clarke. Peter was born in Mere and they married in 1810 in Knutsford and continued to live there in King Street East. Peter was a Master Saddler.
• George Hickson died ca September 1838 in Congleton
• George Hickson died ca March 1838 in Macclesfield
• George Hickson was baptised 1776 in Mobberley to John Hickson and Sarah Bowes. He had an older brother called William. George married Mary and they had a daughter called Catherine who was baptised in 1810 in Mobberley
• George and Alice Hickson. In the Tattenhall marriage register his name was shown as Hicks. They had 6 children, all baptised in Nantwich. Elizabeth, the eldest, was baptised on New year's day in 1802 At the baptisms of John, Thomas and Sarah, he was a husbandman, at the baptism of his son, George, he was described as a Labourer. Their names were spelt variously as Hicks, Hickson, Hixson and Hixon. George had presumably died before the 1881 census, as neither he nor Alice were to be found.
• George Hickson married Lydia Falkner in 1801 in Mobberley. They had two daughters, Mary and Sarah baptised 1804 and 1806 in Moberley.
• George Hickson, baptised 1784 in Astbury, was the eldest child of Matthew Hickson and Mary Wakefield who were married 1782 in Congleton.
• George Higson, a Gentleman of Stockport and Shawheath, made his Will in 1850
• George Hickson, born ca 1796 in Salford, married Elizabeth who was born 1799 in Over. In the 1851 census he is described as a Waterman, so he would have been carrying goods on the Canals. They had three children between 1820 and 1835, all born in Over, and their son, William, followed in the same trade. It seems probable that he had died by the time of the census in 1881
• George Hickstone, born ca 1806 in Cheshire, married Elizabeth who was born ca 1806, also in Cheshire. The 1841 census shows him in the Cathedral division, Mickle Trafford, Great Boughton as an agricultural labourer. They had three children between 1832 and 1838.
• George Hickson was baptised in 1819 in Mobberley, the son of Sarah Hickson. Was Sarah a widow or unmarried?
  In Warwickshire, Joseph and Sarah Hickson had a son, baptised in 1818 in Kingsbury

Lancashire

• George Higson had his son, Thomas, baptised 1760 in Little Hulton
• George Hickson married Ann Howarth and they had a daughter, Elizabeth, baptised 1760 in Bury
• George Hickson was born ca 1735 in Bury - from the IGI, nothing else known
• George Hickson was baptised 1740 in St Peter, Liverpool. His father was John Hickson or Hixon
• George Hickson married Hannah Parkinson. He was a Weaver, probably of Manchester. She came from Worsley. They had a daughter, Elen, baptised 1792 in Ellenbrook Chapel
• George Higson had a daughter called Margaret who died, an infant, in 1812. Nothing else is know about this family
• George Hickson, a weaver of Little Hulton, Pendleton was born ca 1768. He married Ann, also of Little Hulton, who was born ca 1772. They had a son, Thomas, baptised 1800 in Ellenbrook Chapel
• George Hickson of Little Hulton married Ann ca 1799. They had a son, Thomas, baptised 1800.
  • Both these records actually say "Little Hilton", but presumably that is an error for Little Hulton
• George Hickson, a weaver of Tildesley, Ellenbrook, was born ca 1773. He married Betty ca 1804, both "of Tildesley" and they had a daughter called Mary in 1801 and another, called Maria 4 years later
• George Hickson, a farmer of Manchester, had a son, George, who married Mary Ratcliffe 1837 in Manchester. George, junior, was an earhtenware dealer
• George Hickson was buried 1886 in Ford RC Cemetery, Liverpool
• George Higson, born 1788 possibly in Blackrod, was, at various times, a cotton spinner, a publican, an Alehouse keeper and a painter. He was the son of John Higson, Jr. and Peggy Valentine. He married Charlotte Hampson 1808 in Bolton le Moors and they had a son, George, who died in May 1825 aged 11 weeks. George, Sr. died in 1850 and was buried in Blackrod.
• George Hichson was baptised 1794 in Liverpool, the son of Joseph Hickson and Ellen Lunt
• George Hickson married Margaret Ormrod 1815 in Manchester Cathedral. Is he the father of George who married Mary Ratcliffe? (see above)
• George Hickson, of Manchester, was born ca 1799. He married Elizabeth Dunkerley 1822 in St Mary, Manchester

• George and Mary Hickson had a son, Charles, baptised 1839 in Liverpool
• George Hickson was born ca 1811 in Liverpool. He became a bricklayer and married Ann. he was the son of Mrs Catherine Hickson
• George and Mary Hickson had 11 children between 1838 and 1854 including one called Lucy in 1839, so this was not the same couple as the george and Mary, above
• George Hickson married Ann Stone in 1835 in Liverpool and they had 5 children baptised between 1836 and 1849. Was he the son of Catherine?
• George and Mary Hickson had their daughter, Ann, baptised 1851 in Blackrod

Staffordshire

• George Hickson, of Wednesfield Heath, died 16 February 1842 and was buried at Wolverhampton, St Peter.
• George Hickson was baptised 1818 in Bilston, the son of Frederick and Mary Hickson. 13 years later they had another son called George who died aged 1, buried at Bilston. Presumably the first George had also died young
• George Hickson, born June 1826, was buried May 1828 in Newcastle under Lyme

Warwickshire

• George Hickson was baptised 1757 in Lillington, and died in 1775. He was the son of Charles Hickson and Susannah Wiggs
• George Hickson was baptised 1782 in Lillington, and died in 1784. He was the son of John Hickson and Sarah Bradshaw
• George Hickson was baptised 1818 in Kingsbury, and died in 1829. He lived in Holloughton. He was the son of Joseph and Sarah Hickson
