PEACE

St. Mildred's Convent,
Tenby (England)
29th June 1900.

Very Reverend Father,

With feelings of sorrow and at the same time of consolation I announce to your Reverence the death of Donna Maria Mechtilde Bergh, a Nun of this convent. Born on the 9th January 1842 in Sussex England, she assumed the habit of our Holy Father Benedict on the 13th December 1866 and with happiness of spirit pronounced the final vows on the 19th February 1868. Up to the very last she preserved her fervour as a novice - During her last illness she cheered all who came near her by her joyful references to her imminent death in which she saw the accomplishment of God's will - With burning affection she asked for and devoutly received the Holy Sacrament and all the other comforts of the Church. She passed peacefully away last night between ten and eleven o'clock.

She begged the Mother Superior in notifying her death to use the following words as expressing the content she always felt at being in God's hands Quid retribaum Domino pro omnibus quae retribuit hihi. Donna Mechtilde's last words were Jesus mine have mercy; Mother mine pray for me; Holy Joseph Saint Father Benedict, All ye Saints of out Order come and help me.

Asking the prayers of your Reliogious Community for the Soul of the dear deceased,

Believe me to remain, Your Reverence's
Most humble obediant servant,

Donna M.A.S.
